You are wrong. Check your facts. You cannot work as a private obstetrician without relevant specialization and you cannot work as a private GP without a specialization in family medicine.

So, are you implying that a doctor who finished the foundation years can set up a clinic and start operating on brain tumours? Of course he/she cannot without the proper qualifications.

Er, the Tweet’s still there.

We’ll meet again in March 2016. The hospital will be up and running, Maltese businessmen will have raked in a few more millions, Maltese doctors at the medical school will have raked in a few more hundred thousands in lecturing salaries, and the whole affair will have been forgotten. Because when you throw money at things, they tend to work out.

Internal struggle indeed.

Ah, but to get a Libyan visa these days it will only be granted if you apply for a work permit or a student visa.

Extensions to visas no longer exist.

Visas need to be reapplied for every 6 months.

Since anyone who has had a visa refused cannot reapply, Libyans are cautiously directed to apply via “a lawyer” who goes through the normal channels for them but through him they are assured of their visa.

Not only is our student population sure to increase, but also those who are gainfully employed.

Since the number of Libyans in Malta is 43,000, there’s quite a bit to put under the microscope.

I wonder how many other such visas are targeted from the same continent under this scheme, now that we have expressed certain timely “regrets.”

Being gawked at by students is part of the price you pay for free treatment in a state/teaching hospital. There is no way out of this.

Gozo is lots of fun. In fact, it’s better than Malta. Gozo is smaller, so it is the hub on the hub.
