What a shame! I think that the SHout campaign lost for a number of reasons.

1. The campaign was led by one or two divisive personalities such as Saviour Balzan.

2. The PM indirectly influenced the PL voter by taking a public stand on hunting.

3. Simon Busuttil followed his lead and took the line of political expedience.

4.The SHout campaign underestimated the hunting lobby’s ability to rally the troops.

5. The referendum question likely confused a significant number of persons who may have inadvertently voted in favour of removing spring hunting by voting Yes.

6. Malta Today’s published polls may have told some anti-hunting voters that the win was a given resulting in some not bothering to vote at all.

7. 50% of the Island’s population are probably unable to take a mature decision that would have been in their own interest.

I despair.

Andrew Azzopardi has just said on Net TV’s News Feed that the two major parties did not allow the sixteen-year-old vote in the referendum.

Either Azzopardi is an idiot and doesn’t know his facts or he’s a liar.

Simon Busuttil had accused the government of hypocrisy in not allowing 16-year-olds to vote in the spring hunting referendum, and it was the MLP and Joseph Muscat in particular that did not want them to vote.

The presenter, Karl Gouder, should have cut him to ribbons but unfortunately he didn’t.
