If you look closely the car looks like its right hand drive. Very few countries use RHD models and Libya isn’t one of them. Definitely not a real police car.

Just tried to drive through Triq Drumblat in Mosta. The road is closed for filming, a main road, when there surely was enough space for the set to move further into the location so that the road would not be closed.

To add insult to injury,I drove all the way round and through Ta’ Qali and found that traffic was not being allowed to go towards Triq il-Mithna either.

What sort of warped reasoning is this? The barrier could very easily have been put up after Triq il-Mithna but instead it was put up in the area of Triq Kumbu.

Malta, where service users are treated like shit.

Really? I was in Libya at the time, and most Americans left in fear for their lives.

That is how I got my job as a teacher in an American curriculum school, as they needed others to replace them.

I’m pretty sure they got the police car make and model wrong for that period.

Either that or else the ones used at the time are still being used now

Michael Bay ( he of ‘Transformers’ fame) is filming ’13 hours’ , the story about the death of the American Ambassador in Libya. The car is a mock-up, (probably to be used in the background, as otherwise they would have got the steering wheel issue right… I hope!)

Oh, I’ve heard that a movie about Libya will be shot in some streets in Paola with the mosque in the background.

It’s being shot there because the roads will need to resemble streets in Benghazi.

The number plates have Al Jamahariyya on them so they probably are former police cars during Gaddafi’s time and not the ones currently being used as new number plates have Libya written on them.

Also, I lived in Libya from June 2012 till February 2013 (post Gaddafi) and the Police used to utilise other types of vehicle, more modern than the one shown above.

The guy who spoke to your woman friend must have been trying to impress her. If he was a Libyan, it’s their way of showing how important they are.
