But then, after getting so worked up about birds, I think I don’t comment on the plight of the poor souls who drowned in the Mediterranean because I can’t bring myself to be sucked into an online argument when people are dying and I’m sitting at my computer, prophesizing on what should be done.

Too many online commenters use these unfortunate people to take political shots and score points for their “team”.

And others think they are doing good because they post sympathetic articles on Facebook and Twitter.

So, I realize, it’s not about the birds. I’m not going to go out and stop the hunters shooting birds. I really wish they would stop shooting them but, like many other people (let’s be honest) a shot cuckoo is not going to ruin our day.

It’s about the people. It’s about these thugs getting away with it. And when they start shooting people, and threatening people, then it’s going to another level of thuggery.

And we want these people locked up. And we want, many of us, that Joseph Muscat gets what he deserves….because of the birds.

So as difficult as it is to talk about drowned human beings (it’s a horrible thought) it is easy to talk about the birds. But I feel terrible arguing about birds when people are dying.

And not only is Muscat deafening in his silence but so are all the journalists.

Here is the perfect opportunity for one of them to step up, confront him with all this evidence, remind him of his “flagrant” speech and demand an answer. But no, nothing.

The journalists, our voice, our means to get through this political bullshit are silent. So sad.
