I suspect the Medical Council in Malta may wait and see whether or not Dr Scerri is suspended or struck off the UK General Medical Council (GMC) Register before taking any action.

This is purely an assumption on my part and I could be wrong.

In any event, at the UK GMC hearing Dr Scerri will be given a written notification of the outcome of its decision, and if it has been decided to restrict or strike him off the medical register.

He will be asked to sign that he has received the notification.

If he has not attended the hearing, he will be sent a written confirmation immediately after the hearing by registered post.

Dr Scerri is then entitled to appeal against any decision that either restricts or removes his registration to the High Court within a statutory period of 28 days.

However, Dr Scerri has been convicted of a sexual offence and as a result has been required to sign the sex offender register UK, for the crime he has committed.

People who appear on the UK sex offenders register are then barred from a large number of situations where they might potentially be in contact with vulnerable groups such as children.

Personally, I think any person who uses their position of trust to abuse kids are the scum of the earth.

he Malta Medical Council is quite a respectable body and would never allow a doctor found guilty of child pornography to practise in Malta.

In other words, what is the risk of this man emigrating back to Malta to practise medicine?
