God, as you know, has nothing to do with it.

And that is a defence of God, because no sensible or efficient God would have made women ‘fertile’ until the age of 50 when women who have babies in their 30s generally can’t deliver naturally, babies born to women aged over 35 can have serious health problems and those born to women over 40 can have very serious problems.

Nor would God have made men fertile into old age when children, especially sons, conceived by men over the age of 45 are increasingly likely (the likelihood increases for every five years over 45) of having disorders in the class of schizophrenia, autism and Aspergers Syndrome.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. What happens if mummy develops Alzheimer’s disease in her seventies and needs to go into a care home? Who looks after the children then?
