I looked it up and apparently it happened almost a 100 years after the first seige of Malta, in 1645 to be exact.

The captain ‘hid’ Malta on the map by allowing the wax of his candle to drip on Malta following which he went to beseige the Venetians in Crete for 24 years.

My name is still on the electoral register, even though I have lived in the UK for over 35 years.

I know staunch Labour supporters who have lived in the UK longer than I have and they still vote in Malta.

I have never voted in a general election in Malta.
