Tories have the right policies? In a nutshell :

The Tories claim that they've created jobs : what they don't say is that this is just a stat as most of them are precarious and don't pay a living wage (ever heard of workers - mainly immigrants - taking up menial jobs and then having to share a house between 10?) ; they have continued to privatise the public sector because they or their friends have vested interests ; higher education is now a big business open to the very rich (try and work as a social worker or a teacher and pay back a £50,000 loan) ; Osborne borrowed more money in 5 years than Labour did in 13 years ; small businesses are struggling or closing door (simply, far too many overheads) ; benefits for the people who really need them are being dismantled while nothing has been done to clamp down on tax-avoidance by corporations or the mega-rich ; austerity (alias the Mintoffian "issikar tac-cintorin") is creating misery amongst the less wealthy pockets of the country ; the Tories want to withdraw from the Human Rights convention and from the EU ; home ownership has decreased and so forth.

That is what voters "with sense" vote for"! The bottom line is that the Tories are a Victorian party obsessed with class distinction based on wealth and social background rather than skill and attitude.

He doesn't come across as populist at all. And at the end of the day, he is not a champagne socialist.

I know you are of the Continental persuasion, but pretty much everyone with any sense agrees that the Tories have the better policies. Not perfect of course, just better.
