If the PM doesn't take drastic action and by drastic I don't mean closing the hunting season on its last 3 days, then he is only confirming that he is full of BS and only making a show.

Not Impressed!

If the events of the last few days were a 'sharp decline in illegalities' what was one expecting to close the season?

We've had cuckoos, kestrels and tourists shot - did we expect mass murder and bloodshed?

This was done to save face with the 'No' campaigners.

I'm sure Muscat is glad spring hunting has come to an end.

This is the one thing that has really flawed his reputation among his own people and lost him votes.

Muscat was very short-sighted and his ego got the better of him when the MLP insisted that Labour voters should vote 'yes' in his support.

Muscat politicized the issue unofficially turning it into a vote of confidence in his government much as Sant had done before him when he politicized then Cottonera marina project, only Sant went the whole hog and lost his government.

What decency and honesty failed to achieve on issues such as the Malta passport sales, Australia Hall, the Cafe Premier, Sai Mizzi, jobs for the poster boys and girls and so many other relevant concerns, the anti-spring hunting lobby will achieve because this is a political issue that will not go away.

It will be remembered year after year come spring clawing into the numbers that make up Muscat’s majority.

The decay will be relentless. Muscat knows this and that’s why he won’t be sticking his neck out for the hunters again. That’s why he said this is the hunter’s last chance.

But it’s too late now. Muscat’s miscalculated his popularity and endorsed the hunting lobby because his politics are not about principles or policy they are all about votes.

Muscat went for the known numbers little realising that by taking sides with the hunters he was angering half the Maltese population.

Many people won’t forget that and there will be a very heavy price to be paid.

Closing the hunting season just three days before it was due and after much damage has already been done amounts to nothing more than vote damage limitation.

Too late, mate! We won't be forgetting this too easily.
