Half of the population is not a market segment. You have a very clear indication of what the overall feeling is.

Yes, the sample is in Labour strongholds. But each voter is an individual. He has a mind of his own. You can well assume that the chance of someone changing his mind in one half of the population is very close to the other half.

You need to keep up. ALL dead prime ministers and presidents are being commemorated with statues, regardless or what they did or didn't do.

Alfred Sant, Joseph Muscat, Eddie Fenech Adami, Marie Louise Coleiro, Ugo MIfsud Bonnici and George Abela haven't got their statue yet because they're still alive.

Statues are erected to people when they die.

Yes, there are local issues involved - Marsascala /Birzebbuga - which does not necessarily mean that these people will confirm their vote in a general election.

Yes, there was a hunting referendum being carried out concurrently which could have influenced the result.

Yes, I agree that statistics can be misleading, but 75% of half of the population is a bloody good sample.

And if:

a. Maltatoday manage to predict results with a 3000 sample (except for the referendum);

b. Thee Malta Independent get close with just a 500 sample.

Why can't I get an indication with a sample of over 100,000?

Yes, the rate with which the voters will change parties will change month by month.

Yes, the reasons for which voters will change the way they vote will change month after month.

But reducing the gap by 8500 per year (that is 4250 voters per year) is on the right track.

I am not off the mark in this case.

Quite apart from any opinion I might hold about Simon Busuttil, I do not believe your recommendation makes sense. It is not useful to be loyal to anyone who you think is not able to captain the boat just because he sacrificed his career and income. Politics is not a charitable organisation, and politicians know this.

Attacking people is not a new trend for Muscat, it was a major tactic all along since when he was in Opposition.

It is one of the cornerstones which gave Labour its victory because discussing (and ridiculing) people is easier for small minds than discussing issues.

On the subject of major issues, April has come and gone and I have not seen the major information campaign about the bus service we were promised.

What I am seeing is turquoise, white and white and green busses on the roads and nothing new. Soft launch turned out to mean 'tal-bicca'.

But all this must be fine now because it is Labour who is doing it!

Those calculations are really off the mark. You can't extrapolate from local council elections in part of the country to a general election.

And you most certainly can't then take a 'gap-closing' rate and apply to the next few years, year on year.

None of that makes sense, sorry.
