No, again you are wrong. The derogation on spring hunting was not negotiated to do hunters a favour.

It was negotiated to do the rest of a us a favour by ensuring that the referendum on EU membership wasn’t sabotaged by people who are mad, sick and ignorant enough to put shooting birds before Malta’s long-term future as a European Union member state.

And it wasn’t Simon Busuttil who was responsible for those negotiations. There were others, and rest assured that they would have voted No.

It’s lucky for Busuttil that nobody in the press asked them how they planned to vote, not that they would have answered on the record, so as not to undermine him.

Erratum corrige – he had to vote ‘yes’ to keep with the agreement reached with the Eu. Simon Busuttil worked hard to keep hunting in Malta and arranged to have a controed hunting season. Muscat negotiated nothing. He said yes like simon to keep to the Malta – Eu signed sealed agreement.

I am afraid you are the one who is misinformed, Skye, and even if your original premiss were correct, the argument that you develop from it is off the wall.

There is only one reason why Simon Busuttil announced that he would vote No: so as to avoid splitting the vote on party-political lines.

It is called strategy. As our PM decided to speak out in favour, the only chance for the no camp to win, was Simon Busuttil stating that he was voting Yes.

If the PM was really a statesman and a good strategist, he would have invited Busuttil to publish a joint statement in favour of the No camp.

We would have got rid of the hunter’s lobby camp once and for all.

Shall I spell it out to you? Moira Delia and Saviour Balzan stood side by side at all times in this campaign.

But was Balzan on the receiving end of threats of violent sexual abuse, pornographic imagery, savagery and insults about his appearance?

No, because he’s a man.

Delia was subject to that abuse because she is a woman who, on this particular subject only, refused to get in line.

I noticed that her fellow Laburista, Carina Camilleri, after an initial appearance in the limelight at the start of the campaign, disappeared from public view double-quick to avoid the same fate.
