Not if the economic and lifestyle prospects in your country of origin are infinitely worse than those in Europe. Why do you think some Maltese emigrate to EU countries? And the margin of difference there is far smaller.

Africans migrate because they WANT to migrate, not because some fabled ‘people traffickers’ make them.

These Eurocrats are the pits of logical Marxism. After about two decades of trying to stem the tide of public anger and hatred of black Africans, they knew they’d lost the battle of the temples. So they came up with some new people for us to hate: the people-traffickers. Shift the target, and the xenophobia magically turns into earnest humanitarian interventionism.

You know what? If I were a ‘person trafficker’ I’d just ride along with the migrants. Then no EU Junckerspezialeinheiten could touch me.

No one can do anything about anything unless they remove the big taboo of the modern age: the taking of human life.

This is just more Mogherini bullshit so the EU bureaucrats can polish their CVs and add more millions of Euros to their speaking fees.

No one can do anything about mass migration. The sooner we realise that truth, the sooner we can get one with our lives.

It’s not Africans who are taking our jobs and threatening our way of life. Its our own countrymen.

Well, since Libya doesn’t seem to be getting its act together any time soon, maybe the only sensible solution is to take over the country (just like the U.S. did with Afghanistan), fight off the different militias and restore peace.

Once that’s done, proceed to a crackdown on smugglers and start a processing centre for asylum seekers there. Of course they’ll also have to make sure that routes to Libya are also safe. This is getting complicated isn’t it?

The other option, is the massive and impossible job of restoring peace in countries of origin of these asylum seekers. It’s the ideal option but impossible to achieve. A modern version of the Pax Romana; although the ultimate aim should be to return the country to its people with a democratic government in place.

Either way, the EU has to intervene with more than words. Military action is the answer here and the target is Africa. People have the right to feel comfortable enough to live wherever they’re born. They do not have to feel that the only way to live (often literally) is to take a long and perilous journey.

In reply to Julian. If Denmark suggested that in the past, they certainly changed their minds. The only country pushing for that currently is Italy, and they suggested locations as far south as Sudan.

The only solution is the one Denmark suggested a few years back: establish diplomatic camps in North Africa to process refugee applications there.

The ones who qualify can be transported to Europe using appropriate means.

At the same time the UN needs to get its act together to try and help sort out the mess some of these countries are in.

The EU has to accept that migrants are our equals: human beings. They have to be treated with dignity and respect. Furthermore, I perceive a certain lack of transparency in the actions of border control personnel. Something is amiss, but I can’t nail it down (for now).
