What we haven’t been told is that rich students from the Gulf States – Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates – are usually waited on hand and foot, so much so that many travel with servants.

I can’t imagine they will put up with a lot less than that to which they are accustomed. Will Maltese host families be in a position, or even prepared, to offer such a service?

If the other 1000 students are expected to live on campus, then a 1000-bed “dormitory” must also be built – most convenient for easy conversion into a hotel at some later stage.

If the USA refuses to give a visa to a person who applies to study at university level in the country, why should Malta be ready to accommodate the applicant without finding out why the application to the USA was refused?

Precisely. I might also add that, once the building starts, Sandro Chetcuti will rush in to build his 4 new-proposed hotels. His recent crocodile tears shown for the destruction of land at Zonqor Point, were just a mise en scène.

He was p*ss*d off for not getting the Muscatian iced-bun. He can’t stand the fact that Muscat gave that land to a Jordanian millionaire rather to himself and his money-hungry-and-money-grabbing colleagues at the Malta Development Association.

1. Claim the land is needed for university and that the project will bring prosperity to the south and the south’s children will no longer need to ‘up north’ to go to university (Yes, that was also claimed).

2. Start building on the site.

3. Start university at Smart City in 2016 with an intake of 30 or 40 students.

4. Continue building.

5. Wait for university to grow.

6. University does not take on more students.

7. Building ready, but too big to house so few students.

8. ‘Convert’ to hotel.

9. Bingo!

Frankly, they don’t care. They have got their money.

This is a purely business deal as far as they’re concerned.
