He never made any declarations on John Dalli's membership, still less insisted.

The only failing I see here is a certain reticence in making a media fuss about kicking people out of the party. Not that these things are interesting, but I suppose one must up one's game according to Labours, and they're past masters of the art of hype.

Note too that Simon Busuttil is completely unlike Lawrence Gonzi. He is not surrounded by yes-men who just hand him glowing reports about country and party. For a start, he is not the prime minister, and people tend to drop the blue-sky bullshit when they're not in government.

But he is also different in character - far less conniving, and far more strong-minded.

In fact, if Malta were a normal European democracy and people weren't so damn desperate to please each other and get along, he'd perform even better.

They say power corrupts, but Simon Busuttil is one of those people who whose best qualities will emerge when we give him power and make him Prime Minister.

Then he wouldn't have to worry about upsetting anyone.

My apologies to Dr Simon Busuttil; he needs to clean the Nationalist Party of all the corrupt scumbags especially those connected to John Dalli.

They all have the opportunity to join the Labour Party. They seem to accept any old trash.

Decisions of revoking party membership to those suspected of corruption should be published in the media.

I don't remember reading or viewing anything about John Dalli's membership being revoked.

When the Nationalist Party was in government in the years 1987-1994 and 1996 – 2008, the Labour Party used to accuse it of institutionalised corruption and rightfully so.

If anyone wants to be honest it has to be admitted that there was a lot of corruption. I witnessed a lot of it.

The most corrupt politician was John Dalli. Everyone knew it and his corrupt practices continue to be confirmed on this website on a regular basis.

When I reported John Dalli’s corrupt practices to the prime minister of the time, Eddie Fenech Adami, Dalli framed me in revenge.

Dr Fenech Adami, instead of investigating my allegations, allowed Dalli to continue making backroom deals and lining his and his family’s pockets.

When Lawrence Gonzi was prime minister , I made the facts known to him too, and even wrote an open letter which was published in The Malta Independent (17 October 2010).

I was ignored and Dalli continued with his corrupt practices during his term as European Commissioner, as we now all know, thinking that Brussels had the same attitude as Maltese governments and they would ignore whatever backroom deals he decided to fix. Well, he was mistaken because he had to resign because of his corrupt practices.

I also wrote an open letter to European Commission President Jose` Manuel Barroso. It seems that my request did not fall on deaf ears (see link below).

Despite all the news and facts about his corruption that have been published on this website and elsewhere, Dalli and his family still remain Nationalist Party members.

Simon Busuttil does not seem to have the backbone to withdraw their membership like he did in other cases where the allegations were not as serious.

Now that the Labour Party led by Joseph Muscat is in government many are complaining about the corruption that exists and rightfully so. Of course the current situation confirms how hypocritical the Labour Party leadership is.

Unfortunately the Maltese electorate like sheep believed Joseph Muscat prior to the last general election and gave him a landslide win.

He lied through his Khyber Pass and fooled the majority but whose fault was that? The Nationalist Party didn't do anything to stop the corruption while they were in government.

Now the boot is on the other foot. Nothing changes and the taxpayers continue to pay the price while these politicians become multi-millionaires.

When the electorate voted for Malta to join the EU the majority believed that political corruption would be brought under control and most probably disappear.

Again they were wrong because corruption went up a few gears. It’s karma.
