There was another set of conditions, mainly concerned with land use. It’s also why the Church has its own environmental commission.

Hondoq in Gozo was a similar case, Balluta may be another.

Which may explain why they’re calling Zonqor a university and Azzopardi reacted the way he did.

Azzopardi is the one who’s building Coleiro’s Presidential opra benefica model.

The points you mention are correct. Many people were indeed upset at the way the Roman Catholic Church brokered its land with a PN administration to retain a (large) measure of its influence on the dissolution of marriages.

My point was really to express astonishment at Azzopardi’s retort to the Archbishop’s concern about the large tract of virgin ODZ land earmarked for the ‘university’ project.

I don’t think so. Azzopardi’s reaction is very similar to the far-rightists’ reaction who told those who defended the right of immigrants to asylum to offer them their own home.

This morning, CNN-GO (the station’s travel magazine) featured the “American University of Beirut”.

Can you believe these people?

I couldn’t find the link to the feature on
line, but I looked up this “university” and the resemblance of the site chosen
is very similar to the choice of the Hani Hasan Naji Salah site. Scary.
