The problem is that every time he starts reading the book during his ‘moonlit nights’ he promptly falls asleep. At this rate he’ll never finish the book.

When he eventually finishes the Treatise he might have an answer as to why his mobile rings when it is switched off or maybe not.

Clarke’s ‘Working with Monsters’ should be next on his list. It might give him insight into how he was convinced to turn himself into a nonentity.
