Ah yes, but that was to break illegitimate laws. Nothing this government had done has come within that remit. They are, so far, using the legitimate rules left for them by the Nationalist party, and continue to use the bad practices of the previous government (whilst amplifying those bad practices) with impunity.

I am here because Daphne doesn’t waffle about things, and I have learnt a lot from her too.

She was the first person I went to when I understood what was going on in May 2012.

I must have been identified as a danger to be dealt with and treated in a very particular fashion because Joseph Muscat’s actions couldn’t not have been transparent to me.

So I am here because I feel the urgency of constant vigilance; and to translate the thinking behind those actions before they ruin Malta completely. It has already wrought enough destruction.

What the Nationalist Party did prior to 1987 is very interesting.

They knew that if they kept within the narrow confines of the laws of Malta, they could never take any action. So they broke those rules. By broadcasting from Sicily, for instance. It wasn’t violence, but it was violent action. Just like the suffragettes slashing the Rokeby Venus.

I often wonder where the ingenuity and desire for justice has evaporated. Back then, they were willing to break rules if those rules were unjust, and the higher imperative was justice, not conforming to the rules.

Now the higher imperative seems to be to work within the status quo so their legal offices and accountancy firms can make maximum profit.

We could ‘not do anything’ under the Nationalists, but violence is never ever going to solve problems.

Winning hearts and minds has always been the issue.

The fact that the Nationalists did not give this priority during their 25 years in government (vide their education and public TV policies) is probably their worst legacy.

But, I repeat, violence is not a political tool that pays dividends.
