Dalli is making the point that if there is nothing written as proof, he can say he didn’t know about it.

But this same email says that he was informed about the closure of negotiations. He is shifting the blame on others. Note: ‘he COULD have been briefly informed’ but of course he wasn’t informed about the waivers especially the most crucial one.

One of them was their reaction to the statement ‘in politics you may not always be able to tell the truth’.

Muscat: “Sometimes you have to tell the truth.” (“Le, xi drabi jew ohra jkun hemm bzonnha”.)

Gonzi: “Definitely not. You must always tell the truth, above all, in politics. This is a cardinal principle.”

Muscat surrounds himself by people who feel that “sometimes you have to tell the truth.” When will it be that “sometime” for Dalli?

Perhaps this is why he goes to Lourdes hoping for a miracle.

Then on the very last day someone sneaked in one single waiver clause.

Using a similar line of thought I can flap my hands like a bird therefore I can fly and off I go from the roof of my house.
