Actually the upper part is globigerina limestone and from about 30 metres down to sea level is lower corraline.

Similar stone is excavated mainly below the Victoria Lines between Naxxar and Mosta among other places and Dingli.

The design of the marina/breakwater spells disaster. The designer does not know what he is doing as a strong (Force 8 to 9) Easterly wind would break up most of the yachts berthed there.
