I’ve been doing this job a long time, Spiteri. I could tell it wasn’t any lawyer when that came in. Lawyers don’t post comments on blogs – they write directly to the individual, by email or post.

I said to myself, ‘This is the psycho himself, pretending to be a lawyer and trying to scare me off.’ That’s why I deleted the comment, because it was fraudulent. I’m not the sort of person who thinks it unlikely that a convicted paedophile would also be a fraud.

And then you popped in using the same IP number and proved it.

Carry on like this and you’ll have the police feeling your collar again, courtesy of me.

Rest assured that the US ambassador would NOT have received him if she had been told he is on the US sex offenders list. Those are not decisions she can make for herself. If you think that they are, you have no understanding of what an ambassador’s role is, or that the ambassador represents his/her country.

5. I did not get the details of the case from public sources on line. Take it from me: he raped and fellated his own 15-year-old son, and his criminal history in the US is on record with the police in Malta. Incidentally, would it have been more acceptable to you if the ‘non-stranger’ status meant he was the child’s uncle not father, or a friendly neighbour?

1. Challie Spiteri was not there to seek assistance.

2. Challie Spiteri was a special guest at the embassy, a guest of the ambassador, at a purely social occasion.

3. Challie Spiteri is a convicted felon in the US, which the ambassador represents.

4. Challie Spiteri is on the US child-sex offenders register.

5. Challie Spiteri’s crimes include raping his own minor son and forcing him to have oral sex with him.

6. Public officials and diplomats (or anyone else decent) do not host people like that even in their private time let alone on official social business in the name of their country.

7. That is why I wrote ‘unknowingly’ in the title to the post. There is no way on earth an ambassador of the United States of America would have formally received, as a guest (and have been photographed with) a US-registered child-sex offender KNOWINGLY.

That is right.

Most nations have laws like that on the books, but the culprits only seem to get caught when they wear uniforms and medals that do not belong to them at yearly occasions like Veterans Day/Remembrance Day ceremonies.

It’s a criminal offence under the Stolen Valor Act.

A check with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs can verify that.

An American ambassador can quickly find out if the person is a genuine vet or a bogus one with a phone call or an email or a fax.

It would be prudent to verify this before personally meeting with someone who claims that they are a war veteran, especially if the meeting is being covered by the news media.

Making a formal claim to be a war veteran when you are not has serious repercussions.
