Yes, the 2002 plans were for the quarry down from Hondoq but not affecting the beach itself. That quarry was a dead quarry, not active for years.

These current plans are for the quarry further along that stretch of coast and yes, facing onto open sea and not Comino.

You are correct – the quarry is still active and it is active precisely because even more has to be quarried out to make way for what is required.

Those hanging apartments are hilarious, first they’ll excavate acres of rock, then they’ll plonk plinths, leaving half the depth cantilevered.

Not very economical is it, practically double the work.

And if one had to look at the site, they’ll extend excavation far beyond the quarry, those poor Posidonia meadows.

Whilst they’re at it, how about an Abu Simbel of Joseph and Michelle?

It never was Hondoq, Lucia, not even in 2002.

The word ‘Hondoq’ was used by opponents of the project to sabotage it by playing on people’s emotions.

It was always the quarry.
