Astrid Vella is supposed to be the non-partisan spokesperson of an NGO whose name suggests that its main interest is the environment.

As such she must protect the environment regardless of who is in government.

She was right in certain controversial projects under a Nationalist administration and was quite vocal about them.

But now much more serious violations of the natural environment are taking place or are planned and yet you hardly hear a whimper from her.

She comes across as biased: hysterical in her opposition to blocks of flats in an urban area under the Nationalist government, and flippant about the destruction of agricultural land at Zonqor point under Labour.

I wouldn’t approve of disliking her as a person, but her changed attitude towards the environment, because it is expedient for her to do so, means that she should expect scrutiny as a public person.

So she should either take the heat or get the heck out of the kitchen.

It is a lot easier to gather 200 people round your megaphone than it is to gather tens of thousands on an internet forum, I can assure you.

With all due respect, I do feel that Astrid is a person who has the environment’s best interests at heart and find it unjust of you to attempt to ridicule her publicly when you have never contributed much to the cause.
