Of course he suggests giving these families the fish, because if he gives them a rod they might just get out of their rut, learn how to read, and see through this government’s corruption, such as having ministers run their own horse while comfortably being paid millions in Minsters’ salaries and pensions.

In the national interest of course.

Actually, the French model he is referring to does not concern “close-to-sell-by-date tins”, but rather fresh produce that is thrown away in bulk on a daily because of the policy of having only very fresh fresh produce.

This was leading to a huge of waste of perfectly edible food. The idea is to reduce food waste and instead donate it to homeless shelters and the such.

So it’s not a case of handouts as much as redistribution of waste.

Of course, knowing Leo Brincat, he has absolutely no clue about any of this and will turn it into some anti-capitalist, ultra-socialist burden on the supermarkets and use all this as a propaganda tool. You know the drill.
