Nobody claimed that good ethics are exclusively Roman Catholic.

Much more pertinent is to see what in Catholic doctrine teaches anything that goes against these universal good ethics.

You mention the use of condoms. Are you happy to know that your children are having sex just for fun as long as they use condoms?

Is it not better to teach them to use sex in a more responsible way?

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. But it is also the official teaching of the Catholic Church. Individuals may attempt to pass off as official anything they like but that does not mean that ALL the teaching of the Church is bad.

That’s because they dumb it down. In this case, it IS a deliberate policy (hniena, foqra, the downtrodden etc.). Except that in the 21st century, the true downtrodden are the hyperliterate and poor.

Do you realise the priesthood is the only job where there are more vacancies than applicants?

Teaching morals and values is not indoctrination.

Repeating superstitious beliefs to highly impressionable young minds is.

You say your faith is not based on your Catholic upbringing, but on your own free choice. Is it then just a coincidence that the overwhelming majority of people “freely choose” their own parents’ religion?

Unfortunately, too many church persons are predisposed to think in terms of the preternatural, even when it’s obvious that some physical explanation is at play.

This is regularly confirmed by the type of language and discourse used during Sunday Mass homilies which are very often cut off from reality except in very generic terms.
