From what I heard The Cliffs operates under the radar and the owners go out of their way to evade paying due VAT.

One way of doing it is to leave all net payments due in suspension until their creditors owe them about same amount of monies.

Their creditor, now also debtor does the same and figures are cancelled at both ends.

Owners also have a couple of other companies through which they channel monies in/out when convenient.

Ian Borg should tell us what he knows about the huge indoor and outdoor restaurant called The Cliffs, which was built on ODZ land right there on Dingli cliffs.

How it obtained MEPA clearance is a mystery, except that it is said that the permit was requested and issued for an information centre ‘with catering’.

The information centre consists of a couple of panels showing the birds and the fauna of Dingli. All the rest is kitchens, outdoor dining area (glassed in) and indoor restaurant.

The man who obtained the permit is the brother of a well-known Taghna Lkoll MEPA official, but this has nothing to do with it, of course.

Nor does the fact that The Cliffs was officially inaugurated by one Ian Borg.

I feel there is one word that correctly describes this lout and that is “coarse”.

The fact that he ended up an MP is a sad reflection on those who voted him in.
