This argument really gets up my nose, and I have said it hundreds if not thousands of times – you vote for the the party you believe is good for the country and not for what you think is good for you personally.

Way back in the 80s members of my family were even arrested because they were at mass meetings. They were part of the crew who worked in putting up the set for those mass meetings and helped out at the Stamperija day and night.

Dr and the late Mrs Fenech Adami were both present at my parents’ funerals, but we never and I repeat never, asked for any favours in return and we never got any.

Dr Gonzi kept this country afloat – all around us countries were floundering and he kept working to keep Malta going.

He knew that the PN were going to lose the election but he still worked hard to get us the funds from the EU and then you get selfish people who voted Labour “biex ipattua lil PN”.

Sorry I wrote in length but I get really upset to hear these comments.

I disapprove of comments like this one and anything else that encourages adults in the belief that they must be courted and wooed and that they are not responsible for their own choices, decisions, thoughts, conclusions, actions and vote.

Maltese adults already think and behave like children and teenagers in far too many ways. It shouldn’t be encouraged, but shown up for what it is: immaturity.

As a rational adult, I have never expected to be wooed by any politician and take full responsibility for assessing the available information and making my decision on that basis – then taking responsibility for that decision.

Heads of government, not heads of state. They’re not always one and the same.

As I see it, wooing them back to the PN lies squarely on Simon Busuttil’s shoulders, and in how much he can persuade them of the real regeneration of the party.

He seems to be doing a good job of it till now, but he still has way more to go.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
