No, you can't correct me.

Michael Falzon's father was called Muse (Moses) and his mother is Karmena. Michael has just the one sibling, called Silvio.

The grocer's shop you mention was indeed Michael's father's, but it was called 'Ghand Muse' (official name: King Store).

The other grocers were 'Ghand Ta' Kekkina' (where Amery Street ended in High Street), 'Ghand Frankie' (Howard Street almost c/w Victoria Avenue) and 'Ghand Toni' (three doors away from where I grew up in Milner Street, where Pierre Camille Hairdressers have been for the last 35 years).

I live exactly there for 21 years.

What memories. My father had one of those, too - but it was white.

The street was still like that in the 1980s and even the early 1990s.

It was when the developers had razed the whole of Tower Road that they began turning to the streets that led into it.

He is most definitely from Amery Street. I know that for a fact because I grew up on Milner Street round the corner and we are contemporaries.

His father owned the grocer on Howard Street corner with Amery Street and they lived a few doors up.

I believe their house was requisitioned for them during the Mintoff era.

Another one who grew up in a house requisitioned by the Mintoff government for her family, just down the way in Graham Street: Mrs Edward Zammit Lewis nee Elena Farrugia.

The house in which she grew up was requisitioned from the Cassar Torreggianis by the Mintoff government for her family.

So now you know. Imbasta dawk il-hafna pozi.
