Because it is irrelevant - or even detrimental - to arriving at a solution now. I glossed it over when I said "the Greeks, for all their faults."

After WWI, the Treaty of Versailles crushed Germany with war reparations, and out of the ensuing economic collapse compounded by the Great Depression rose an unknown Austrian soldier and failed artist who used that misery to rally a nation and wreak so much more havoc all over the world.

By the end of WWII, the Allies had learned their lesson and that is why they forgave 50% of German debt and war reparations and gave them comfortable repayment terms. Imagine what might have happened if the Allies had stuck to their rightful moral claims again.

Back to Greece, there are many factors to weigh, starting from possible PIIGS contagion and the impact on the Eurozone, to Obama's evident worry that they will align with Russia or China. But no amount of laying the blame here or there will help at all.

And about governments, they only represent roughly half the people if that, as you well know. Imagine Joseph Muscat ever took us to where Greece is now.

You'd still have half the country rightfully feeling that none of that is their fault.

Yes, agreed. But the cause of the problem doesn't really factor into coming up with the best solution, both from the point of view of the Greeks and their creditors, and also from that of the rest of us.

It's a question looking at the cards in your hand and making the best move, rather than bickering about how you got there. See my comparison to post WWII Germany.

And yes, 'Ċwieċ' all the way, but that only differs from other electorates in order of magnitude, and not in substance.

Americans cheer their beloved Obama who keeps on eroding their rights and more. Spaniards cheer their Rajoy who just last week passed a law called something like 'Citizen Protection Law' that limits the right to protest and other freedoms.

The Brits have their Cameron, the Italians, Renzi, and so on.

Now, the Greeks have woken up from their stupor and realised that they had better jump out of the burning building with a small chance of surviving the fall, rather than face the certainty of the flames at their backs.

What they are celebrating is that they have collectively voted to take that chance. It makes sense to me.

Most Greeks understand that it's all a scam. Unlike the serfs on these dizzy isles, most Greeks were forced to wake up to the realities of debt-bondage and the design behind every global move.

It's easy when you know how it works. All I can say is that Malta in 2015 is experiencing the biggest socio-economic bubble in its long history.
