Presumably, Electrogas Malta’s loan from the Bank of Valletta was at a reduced rate of interest because of the blue-chip security in the form of a government guarantee.

Not bad for Electrogas Malta as it would save some 3 percentage points on the strength of that security alone, which would equate to some 3 million annually.

The government should insist on the withdrawal of its guarantee.
