I believe that’s your deduction, my point being how this place skips form usually achieved after decades in the space of a couple of years.

I recommend vintage Gassman, Tognazzi and if you’re into the grotesque, Giannini.

All they did was portray all that was hateful, cowardly, hypocritical, indolent, backward and pathetic in the eyes of the right.

You’ll find them the perfect match.

I think I understand why you mentioned the Gonzi administration, and I happen to agree.

It’s the point where a line was crossed for the first time since 1987. Powerful men who were publicly revealed as corrupt, with unassailable proof seen by all, to the point where public opinion itself turned against them, were promoted by the government.

Lawrence Gonzi failed to read the Zeitgeist.

It was also the point where the non-hamalli lost their voice in the country’s institutions.

The natural state of this place, which until now determined the basis of pseudo-polis, or better, EU funding.

Gonzi was defeated the moment he introduced a minimum of objective analysis. Lotus eating was over.

His failure to apply any form of empathy to counteract the backlash and his constant reference to the ‘tempest out there’ became Muscat’s promise to realizing one’s self.

There’s more dignity and self-awareness in a street urchin peddling contraband cigarettes in Neapolitan slums than the ‘average’ Maltese.

So they romanticize indigence, we on the other hand, have no sense of proportion. And that’s mainly due having no value formation capacity.

It will be a paradigm shift when we’ll be able to discuss who allowed this to happen.
