One night around 1984 or 1985 I was at Saddles in Spinola Bay as usual when Sammut burst in with a gang of thugs, and proceeded to disrupt the place while his men raided the bar for drinks they didn’t pay for, harassed the girls and young women and tried to pick fights with the men. This was when Sammut was executive director at the bank, can you imagine.

The barmen, who included Taghna Lkoll Silvio Debono (now chairman of MCAST), froze. A couple of people ran across the road to the police station directly opposite, to get help, but of course they refused to come over.

He got them off the bank’s INTRANET not Internet. In other words, they were for consumption by bank officials only.

And apparently he still has access to the bank’s intranet despite not working there anymore.

Also, it was only the names that were on the intranet, not the amounts or terms.
