A few years ago I was all alone browsing at the Floriana SPCA bookshop when suddenly a man walked in quitely. It was Alfred Sant at a time when he was Prime Minister. Sant had many terrible defects as PM but at least he was not so full of himself. Needless to say the behaviour of Eddie Fenech Adami and Lawrence Gonzi as PMs was impeccable.

I’d be bloody embarrassed as hell. If ever I was P.M or whatever I’d go everywhere almost incognito. No police, no flashing lights, no special treatment.

Like we’re all waiting desperately for an invitation from the sleazy to join the hangers-on.
