That’s because they are very much aware of the fact that the law cannot touch them and prosecution consigned to oblivion.

Corruption, in this once beautiful island of ours, has become so rife that it makes one embarrassed to be Maltese. We have become Europe’s dustbin.

Corruption has become Malta’s main artery sinking society lower than the pits of hell.

Corruption has become so increasingly prevalent that it no longer shocks us.

Corruption has become so blatantly widespread that the corrupted person doesn’t actually realize he’s corrupt because of the warped mentality and utter lack of basic good morals.

Where do we go from here? What does the future beckon? How do we clean up our act and rid ourselves of this festering hell? Is there any light at the end of that God forsaken proverbial tunnel? Can our children hope for a better future?

One would think that Malta desperately needs a leader with balls the size of coconuts who is willing to fight corruption tooth and nail, irrespective of who the perpetrators may be. Simon Busuttil could very well be that person.

Which evokes the big question: With a nation that is now so mentally corrupt, can we ever elect such a leader?
