I find nothing to write home about here – 70-80% of the Maltese are essentially unsophisticated villagers who take pleasure in these sort of things.

As a natural political consequence of that, the unsophisticated Maltese villager elects another unsophisticated villager to run the country who in turn appoints another unsophisticated villager as ambassador to Belgium, and so on.

You weren’t expecting him to be having tea with Philippe of Belgium, were you?
