This is something else which I’ve long puzzled over: why Maltese people say ‘we’ for Malta.

I’ve never heard it anywhere else.

e.g. A British/Italian/French person would say: “There are Japanese restaurants in Britain/Italy/France.” But a Maltese person would say: “We have Japanese restaurants in Malta.”
