A couple of days ago, TVM news stated that the Danish woman murdered in Gozo “qalghet daqqa fil-kranju ta’ rasha”, as distinct, I presume, from the kranju ta’ sieqha or il-kranju ta’ zaqqha etc. What a bunch of uncouth, uneducated ignoramuses they are. By the way, at least one journalist insists on saying “reat kriminali”. TVM’s attention has been drawn to the error and probably they know it’s an error but they keep repeating it to show that they do not care and will not accept that whoever corrects them is superior to them. And the state network allows its employees, paid out of our taxes, to defy the public for their own personal satisfaction at the expense of ridiculing the national station. Unfortunately, other local TV and radio stations are not much better when it comes to linguistic competence.

No. It’s “mal-” i.e. “ma'” + “l”.
“Għall-” is double “l” because it is “għal” + “l-“. Before a word starting with “l” it goes back to “għal-“.
Probabbly it should have been “jaqbel dwar il-pakkett”. Normally it is “taqbel ma’ xi ħadd” u “mhux ma’ xi ħaġa”! But normality is a scarce commodity of late and “Greek” is surreal.

That’s not the only grammatical mistake. It’s “mall-pakkett” (general rule of thumb, if you’d say “tal-“, then use “mall-“, “ghall-“, etc.).
