There are no women there, full stop.

Perhaps unlike you, I had grandparents who were around well into my adulthood, and who were politically engaged (and born between 1900 and 1906). I don’t need to rely on photographs of the era for an account of what political meetings were like in the 1920s and 1930s and whether women went to them.

Oh, and I don’t wish to be rude about this, but the irony is not lost on me that you believe in the Virgin Birth and the Assumption Into Heaven but will then doubt a photograph and question my assessment of it.

Yes, I did. And no, there are no women in that picture.

Part of my professional work involves scrutinising photographs before publication, Reuben. So I am accustomed to it. It may take you ages and you may see it as a monumental task to enlarge that picture and scan it for women. I did it in around two minutes.

No need to make your grudge so palpable.
