This is especially the case in families where there is enough money to pay for it and to keep the ‘children’ (in their 20s) on an allowance so that they don’t work while ‘studying’.

I blame the parents, of course – you will generally find that their own level of education is really poor, despite their private schooling and the businesses they run.

It’s also a genetic problem – where there are stupid parents there are generally going to be stupid children. But nobody wishes to accept this.

To a Maltese person, a ‘degree’ from a diploma mill is worthless because it opens no doors and means nothing.

Degrees from diploma mills are of value only to people from Third World countries or those places which cannot distinguish between European universities and diploma mills.

The government had to pay people to go there, and still they don’t flock.

A university education isn’t a free good, that’s why. It’s not a THING that you GET. You have to spend three years studying, and that means effort.

And you do realise that a free place at a diploma mill is worth nothing?
