Well now as a Pole living in Malta I can only say that I feel sorry.

Though we as Poles are commonly mistaken abroad for Russians which is mostly considered as offensive (by us).

Still the fact that English is a main second language taught obligatory in every school seems to prove that no one gives a shit about it.

I hope you kind of solved the situation in an acceptable manner. Not all Poles are suspicious .

TVM news showed this photo from this Polish news website leading one to think the Maltese were those pictured in the photo.

Google Translate reveals that the photo is an AP photo of Syrian refugees in Budapest.

Wrong – it’s the physical appearance. Maltese hamalli behave no differently to English hamalli but nobody would mistake English hamalli for Syrians.

You also make the standard erroneous assumption that all Syrians are loud and rough. No, they’re not. Only Syrian hamalli are loud and rough.

Syrian non-hamalli are no louder or rougher than I assume you are.

I wouldn’t blame their looks but their way of “talking”
usually when abroad I recognize Maltese people from a distance before even seeing them from their shouting when they communicate… this time their loud Maltese “conversations” must have been mistaken for Arabic :)
