This year and last year, nine students were accepted.

Apart from the numerus clausus, there is a grade requirement, with a minimum of Cs in Biology and Chemistry A-Level and Physics I-Level, and Maltese applicants are accepted via interview and a manual dexterity assessment.

Most students who enter dentistry have the grades to enter medicine, but they simply choose not to.

Anyone who considers medicine as a dream career will repeat the year to better his grades, or at worst, enter physiotherapy or another health sciences course which allows them to enter medicine after graduating.

Maltese newly graduated doctors might not find enough vacant posts for their 2-year foundation programme.

Having said that, that’s what free movement of people is all about.
