I don’t think so. They’d get about half a dozen votes. Parties attract votes when they are electable, not the other way round.

Besides, Maltese millennials have never, ever experienced economic hardship. They’re rolling in it, with a solid, lucrative career, a house and often a family, sometimes at 25. Don’t I bluddy know it.

In fairness, his did qualify his stance with a very specific set of concerns, some with which I would grudgingly agree, namely the laissez faire market economy, enabling tax avoidance, the TTIP, the atrocious handling of Greece.

We’ve turned being critical of the EU into some sort of mortal sin. I voted for Malta joining in 2003 because I wasn’t insane, however it’s evident that the EU of 2015 is very different beast to that of 2003.

Corbyn doesn’t really stand a chance come 2020. Labour’s big sponsors are already abandoning them. Also, the baby boomers will still be the dominant demographic, and they’re mostly happy with the status quo, since unsustainable house prices, university tuition fees and austerity don’t really affect them.

What I’m finding hilarious is seeing the Maltese Labourite pundits (particularly Aaron Farrugia) trying to reconcile the popularity of grassroots socialist movements like Corbyn’s and Bernie Sanders’ with their very pro-business Blairite MLP.

The use of ‘molest’ in any context other than sexual harassment or abuse of a child or very vulnerable adult is seriously dated and therefore not idiomatic.

If you don’t believe me, maybe you’ll believe your friend Google.

It’s modelled on something else entirely.

Muscat’s Labour is a hybrid of the French Socialist Party (hence the famous handshake), Chevenementism (through Alfred Sant), and UKIP (you’re spot on on this one – through the Ellul Bonicis). The BNP element is just the never-officially-acknowledged but fully functional Lowellite bloc vote.
