The highest scale that a professional qualified librarian (Masters or Degree level) can attain in the public service is Scale 8 (€20,047.02 x €486.83 – €22,968.00) which corresponds to the post of Senior Assistant Librarian or Scale 10 (€17,631.98 x €407.67 – €20,078.00) which corresponds to the post of Assistant Librarian .

Scale 12 (€15,539.00 x €354.00 – €17,663.00) corresponds to the post of Library Officer (Diploma level) and Scale 14 (€13,659.02 x €316.83 – €15,560.00) corresponds to the post of Library Assistant (Diploma level).

The only grade that such an unqualified person should occupy is the post of Library Attendant Scale 18 (€10,670.00 x €191.00 – €12,007.00).

I expect the professional qualified librarians to take a stand on this issue.
