Again, you don’t understand context.

Context IS ALL.

Nobody can speak about Jeffrey Pullicino in the same way that he spoke about David Thake because nobody else is IN THE SAME POSITION.

It is not only what he says but who he is when saying it.

Again, this is a massive and typically Maltese failing – putting people who are not at the same democratic level at the same democratic level.

The Labour Party uses its massive machine to systematically launch offensives on me, and that’s OK because I ‘attack’ the Labour Party, so in the eyes of people like you, we’re square.

But anybody with one ounce of democratic nous and common sense would see that the situation is actually atrocious because what you have there is a political party using all the available tools in its arsenal to target and undermine a journalist who is its most prominent critic.

Understand it: context is all.

You may not be offended, but I find the inability of so many Maltese idiots to distinguish between the right to express an opinion and the ‘right’ not to be criticised for that opinion extremely offensive indeed.

I find it almost as offensive as the same (inevitably Maltese) people using “I am entitled to my opinion” as some kind of defence for that opinion being worth jack.

Rights are counterbalanced by duties. Your right to have an opinion is counterbalanced by your duty to make sure that the opinion you hold is informed.
