Yes, that's the state of news today. I have to first read the BBC, then see the other end of the spectrum in Russia Today, grab what's in the middle from Reuters while avoiding Euronews, CNN et al.

Only then can I decipher what's really happening.

Without entering into the matter of RT (as explained, it provides the bits which other leave out, hidden in tons of Russian propaganda), I think we can both agree that the man running SOHR is a fraud.

Both videos speak for themselves.

Your train of thought is convoluted. You justify shoring up Assad by citing beheading in Saudi Arabia. Now you cite revenge killing and the murder of a politician in Pakistan. How does that justify support for Assad?

No, I expect common sense and a balance. I disagree with extremists from both the left & the right.

With regards to the refugees I am in favour of reception / processing centres in the closest safe zones where they can be processed and if indeed they are genuine refugees fleeing the war in Syria and not economic migrants (or terrorists) then they should be given refuge and be safely transported to wherever they will be hosted and yes that includes Europe.

The way things are right now is not working and makes no sense. Thousands upon thousands of people, many of who may not even be Syrian and perhaps few who may be extremists are risking their lives crossing over from Turkey to Greece to be faced with barriers and riot police because put simply no country in Europe, not even the mighty Germany after Merkel's boast about being prepared for 1 million refugees is able to handle so many undocumented people in their thousands on a daily basis.

The UK has a very good system of picking genuine refugees from Syria or Turkey rather than accepting any Tom, Dick or Harry who happened to make it into Europe. Germany, Sweden and Finland would do good to emulate this fair system.

I truly believe we should help genuine refugees but I am firmly against economic migrants (illegal immigrants).

Exactly.

And yet you would wish the member states of the European Union to be equally intolerant towards people.

Practically all Arab/Muslim regimes are run by dictators or quasi dictatorships. Almost all of them including the darling of America Saudi Arabia are to a certain extent harsh with their citizens or anyone who even slightly goes out of line. In a way the Assad government in Syria is not that much different from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc.
