I find it hysterically funny that people pay a large sum of money for an air ticket and then think they’ve got their money’s worth not because they get there, but because they get a ‘free meal’.

Buy your drinks and preferred sandwich at the airport and take it on board with you. That’s what I do. But then I’m a grown-up. I don’t depend on others to feed me.

That is certainly not the case with Turkish Airlines Malta-Istanbul and Istanbul -Zagreb economy. Both are relatively short-hops. And that was three months ago.

Better no sandwiches at all than the inedible rubbish they now serve.

Better a packet of Twistees.

All non-budget airlines serve just a sandwich and water in economy class. Some of them serve just crackers or a small packet of nuts if the flight is short.

On domestic (internal) flights in large countries, no passenger expects to be fed at all, even if the flight is two hours.

I really don’t know what the fuss is about. Air Malta should have switched to sandwiches years ago.

Employee efficiency has to increase by 25%. How anyone can work that out is beyond me.

Cheaper fuel? Not with the current hedging agreements.

BUT – remember that with a new ‘catering’ programme – read ‘hobz u ilma’ – a saving of 4 millions is envisaged. How’s that for managing budgets.

The worst is the black coffee in take-away cups for one euro. How awkward must it be for them to sell that.
