I would not say ALL priests are required to be celibate because, although for some reason news of married priests being allowed to convert to Roman Catholicism, and retain their wives, was swept under the carpet in Malta, that is what in fact happened.

It is not right that people are given the impression that there is a blanket rule of celibacy in the Roman Catholic Church.

When you join a club you must be prepared to stick to its rules, or don’t join the club at all. After all, nobody is forcing you to join it and membership of the club is not obligatory.

Religions and all other organisations are not democracies. They are not meant to be.

If a man wishes to be a priest and still have sex, he should join a religion which permits this. He does not even have to leave his own umbrella religion of Christianity to do so.

Sexuality is no barrier; gender is.

So many priests I know are quite obviously gay, some of them to the point of being super-camp. How is that a problem?
