Facebook is a free advertising board for women on the make, and it’s often used as one.

It really functions efficiently in that regard in a small society like Malta, because it’s respectable (unlike a dating agency which sounds desperate) and because the people you’re targeting are bound to know you and run into you.

This is the system Janis Joplin used when running after the Justice Minister: she loaded her Facebook with reams of ‘sexy’ pics, communicating the message that she’s up for it, on full public view, and then removed them once she’d achieved her objective.

Janis Joplin is not even remotely sexy or attractive in real life, so that helped to create the image she wanted.

And then, of course, we had the famous incident with Olivia at the ETC and her salivating boss.

You know, that’s the first thing I thought – same syndrome, but with clothes on.

Yes, that is my attitude, too.

It is such an interesting social excercise. It gives us so much otherwise hidden information about our society.

The whole thing is just mind blowing.
