Middle-aged Maltese men were all schooled separately to girls and were brought up in a society which separated genders and gender roles. They never learned how to talk to women normally or be comfortable around them.

So they would rather not have a woman in the boardroom because they don’t know how to deal with it and are more relaxed in a men-only environment.

I am tired of attending general meetings of HSBC, Go, IHI, etc and seeing men only on stage occupying the highest posts in the corporation.

The only women present are young ladies who move around among the shareholders to hand out microphones to whoever wishes to ask a question.
