I’m no expert but as soon as I saw this image I thought that it must have been taken from a photo.

And who gives a print as a gift?

A print has no value unless the original is of extremely high value and even then the price would be a pittance compared with the original.

The first time I saw this *masterpiece* I wondered why the artist chose to depict this majestic animal in a pose reminiscent of a deer caught in the headlights.

Doing some research following your cue, the animal was indeed surprised by a flash as the picture was taken by Davide and Isacco Zerbini’s automatic wildlife cameras which are left unattended and are triggered by motion.

The Zerbinis clearly state (not that they need to) that their work is covered by copyright, so I am *sure* that our acclaimed artist got their permission.

In essence, Prime Minister Muscat gave Prime Minister Renzi, a print of a drawing blatantly copied from a picture taken by an automatic wildlife camera.
