Pensioners and others nearing pensionable age have direct experience of Labour’s violence and terror prevalent in the 80s.

If Muscat has disassociated himself and the Party from those ‘golden’ years, these older people can still detect the same underlying intolerance and intimidatory language, the same blatant corruption in promoting government cronyism.

The only difference from then is that the same Labour strategy and tactics is couched in more sophisticated marketing and technology. This, however, does not bury the inbred suspicion of intimidation and vindictiveness from Labour’s mob mentality.

We shouldn’t be surprised, then that people don’t dare show any sign of criticising a Labour government or its measures.
